We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Structural Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will contribute to the design, analysis, and execution of structural engineering projects across a variety of industrial facilities. Working closely with project managers, discipline leads, and multidisciplinary teams, you will help deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutions while ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Engineering Manager and Lead Structural Engineer in the successful execution of projects, ensuring work is completed within approved scope, budget, and schedule.
- Develop structural engineering designs that prioritize safety, reliability, constructability, and long-term performance.
- Apply applicable engineering codes, standards, regulations, and company procedures throughout the design process.
- Maintain and improve structural engineering specifications, procedures, and design tools to support project execution.
- Perform structural calculations, analyses, and evaluations to develop practical engineering solutions.
- Prepare technical specifications and design documentation using information provided by other engineering disciplines.
- Produce engineering reports, technical memoranda, calculations, and supporting documentation related to assigned projects.
- Provide engineering input for capital cost estimates, operating cost evaluations, and project planning activities.
- Develop, review, and update engineering design criteria, specifications, and technical standards.
- Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews, offering technical expertise and recommendations to optimize project outcomes.
- Complete engineering assignments in accordance with project schedules, budgets, and quality expectations.
- Review, sign,
and seal engineering documents and drawings when professionally registered and authorized to do so.
- Coordinate and manage small capital improvement, brownfield, and maintenance projects from planning through execution.
- Assist with project definition, scope development, scheduling, and execution planning.
- Conduct site visits to perform inspections, structural assessments, and evaluations of existing facilities and infrastructure.
- Support proposal preparation, technical submissions, and project estimates for new business opportunities.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers, designers, technicians, and technologists.
- Contribute to weekly and monthly engineering progress reporting and project status updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of five years of relevant structural engineering experience, preferably within the oil and gas, industrial, or EPCM environment.
- Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, including the design and analysis of steel, concrete, and industrial structures.
- Demonstrated ability to perform structural calculations, engineering analyses, and technical evaluations for complex projects.
- Proficiency with engineering and CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, SmartPlant, or comparable design platforms.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with a practical approach to engineering challenges.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to clients and multidisciplinary teams.
- Well-organized, self-motivated professional who can work independently while contributing effectively within a cooperative team environment.
- Eligibility to review, sign, and seal engineering documents, or currently registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), is considered an asset or may be required depending on the role.
