We’re looking for an AI Engineer to help build the future of ALDC’s platform. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll ship fast, experiment relentlessly, and leverage AI to dramatically increase development velocity.
You’ll work across the stack, contribute to core product architecture, and build AI-native features that redefine how users interact with data. This role is ideal for engineers who see AI as a force multiplier, not a replacement for strong technical fundamentals.
You’ll play a key role in accelerating product innovation across systems like Eclipse, Zeus Memory, and Zeus Chat—while working closely with leadership and customers.
Success in this role isn't defined solely by what you've built before, it's defined by how you learn, adapt and solve problems. We're looking for engineers who embrace AI as the future of software development, actively explore new tools and techniques, take ownership without being asked, and enjoy collaborating across technical and business domains to deliver exceptional customer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
· Build AI-Native Features: Design and implement AI-powered capabilities, including natural language interfaces and intelligent automation
· Prototype & Ship Quickly: Rapidly build, test, and iterate on new features with a solid bias toward action
· AI-Augmented Development: Use tools like Claude, Cursor, and Copilot to accelerate development and define best practices. Actively leverages AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) as a core part of their development workflow—not as an occasional aid.
· Full-Stack Development: Contribute across backend (Python) and frontend (Next.js) as needed
· Customer Data Onboarding: Build and configure data pipelines, transforming raw data into analytics-ready models
· Data Support & Debugging: Troubleshoot pipeline issues, improve data quality, and maintain reliability across systems
· Integrations & APIs: Develop and maintain integrations across diverse systems and data sources
· Process Automation: Identify manual workflows and automate them using AI (e.g., schema inference, pipeline generation)
· End-to-End Ownership:
Participate in planning, coding, testing, PR reviews, and architectural decisions
· Thrive in a fully remote environment by proactively driving work forward, communicating blockers early, and seeking opportunities to contribute without waiting for direction.
· Collaborate closely with leadership and customers to ensure technical decisions align with business objectives and customer value.
REQUIREMENTS
· 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
· Strong Python development experience with exposure to up-to-date frontend technologies (Next.js preferred).
· Experience building applications using LLMs and AI APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI or similar).
· Actively uses AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot or similar as part of daily engineering workflows.
· Experience contributing across the software development lifecycle, including planning, architecture discussions, implementation, testing, code reviews and deployment.
· Proven ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while proactively communicating and driving work forward.
· Strong ownership mentality with excellent problem-solving skills.
· Demonstrated curiosity and commitment to continuous learning in modern AI software development.
· Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-changing startup environments with shifting priorities.
· Hands-on experience integrating APIs, production systems and real-world software applications.
Must-Have
· Experience building software using modern AI/LLM tools and APIs, with a demonstrated passion for continuously adopting emerging AI development practices.
· Strong evidence of actively learning and experimenting with AI-assisted software development.
· Embraces AI as a core part of software development and actively incorporates AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot or similar) into daily engineering workflows
· Proficiency in Python + Next.js
· Experience with end-to-end ownership (Participate throughout the entire software development lifecycle including requirements, architecture discussions, implementation, code reviews, testing, deployment, production support and continuous improvement.)
· Ability to move fast, iterate, and adapt to change
· Hands-on experience with APIs, integrations, and real-world systems
· Proven ability to work independently in a fully remote environment with minimal supervision.
· Strong ownership mindset with proactive communication and follow-through.
· Ability to balance technical excellence with customer outcomes and business priorities.
Nice-to-Have
· Experience with specification-driven development or agentic software engineering workflows.
· Experience with RAG, vector databases or AI agents.
· Background in data engineering or analytics.
· Experience with Snowflake, Power BI or modern BI platforms.
· Azure cloud experience.
· Docker and containerised deployments.
· Startup or consulting experience.
· Advanced degrees (Master's or PhD) demonstrating a strong learning mindset.
· Evidence of continuous self-learning through open-source contributions, technical writing, AI communities, conferences or personal AI projects.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE
· Salary: CAD $50–$85/hour (approx. $100K–$160K annually)
· Potential for growth aligned with company scaling and impact
WORKING CONDITIONS
· Location: Fully remote role based in British Columbia, Canada
· ~40 hours per week
· Core hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible)
· High autonomy with minimal bureaucracy
BENEFITS
· Dental care
· Extended health care
· Vision care
· Work-from-home flexibility
· Meeting-free Fridays
· Monthly hackathon day for experimentation and innovation
INTERVIEW PROCESS
