This employment opportunity is restricted to Nunavut Inuit who reside in Clyde River and Pond Inlet only.

Reporting to the Supervisor Health Programs, the Basic Radiological Technician/Laboratory Clerk is responsible for assisting with and supporting the provision of diagnostic imaging and laboratory services in community health centres by performing x-rays and related procedures, electrocardiograms (ECG), holter monitor installations and lab-related dutiesin order for Nunavummiut to access care in their home community.

Responsibilities

Other responsibilities for this position include:

- Providing radiological services within the health centre;
- Collecting blood using a closed collection system (i.e.Vacutainer), needle and syringe, and/or micro-collection techniques following Universal Precautions;
- Collecting laboratory samples on patients;
- Providing instructions to patients on the proper collection of biological samples to achieve high quality results;
- Providing clerical support to diagnostic services; and

Providing electrocardiogram (ECG) and holter monitor services based on the physician or nurse practitioner referral

Qualifications The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through completion of high school diploma.The Basic Radiological Technician / Lab Clerk training program (or equivalent), OR; is willing to enroll in and complete the BRT/Lab Clerk training program within 3 years of initial hire is required.





This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural workplace are also considered assets.
