Become the Chief Engineer responsible for vessel maintenance and engineering operations at BC Ferries on Texada Island. This impactful role requires creative problem-solving and leadership in a marine environment. In this position, reporting to the Senior Chief Engineer, you will ensure optimal performance of the ship's mechanical and electrical systems.
You will manage a small crew, perform safety drills, and conduct maintenance, all while keeping communication open with various departments. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage ship’s systems and troubleshoot issues
- Train crew in firefighting and emergency protocols
- Conduct equipment repairs and maintenance oversight
- Coordinate inspections with regulatory agencies
- Complete logs and reports on machinery status Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years as Chief Engineer or Senior Watchkeeper
- 3rd Class Motor Certificate or higher
- Valid Seafarers Medical
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
