Salary: $27.31 -$33.86/hour, per Local 684 Collective Agreement

POSITION SUMMARY The Clubhouse Worker oversees the programs and services offered to individuals who attend at the Clubhouse with an understanding and belief in the purpose and philosophy of the Clubhouse. The Clubhouse is a community intentionally organized to support individuals living with the effects of mental illness. Through participation, people are given the opportunity to rejoin worlds of friendships, family, work, education, and to access the services and supports they may need.

Worker has insight and awareness into their own strengths and limitations and has an ability to reach out to others both within and outside the clubhouse environment.

Worker carries out these responsibilities in accordance with the mission, vision and values of CMHA Algoma, relevant legislation and regulations and organizational policies, to promote the delivery of effective and high-quality services.

Clubhouse Workers’ specific duties vary based on assigned responsibilities in each of the following areas: Work Units, Employment, Goal Planning, Social Recreation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Certification & Experience

- Minimum two-year diploma in a Human Services related field
- Current registration with OCSWSSW or a regulated body under the Regulated Health Professions Act, if eligible
- Mandatory Certification in First Aid/CPR
- Certification in ASIST, First Aid/CPR and Safe Food Handling (or willing to obtain on own within 3 months)
- Minimum one-year experience in the fields of mental health and addictions

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Ability to work in partnership with clients/members
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of mental health and addictions services
- Ability to apply Recovery principles and empowerment-orientated philosophies and practices in work with clients/members
- Demonstrated ability to observe boundaries, engage in appropriate emotional regulation, and refrain from dual relationships with clients/members
- Extensive knowledge of standardized screening and assessment tools
- Extensive knowledge of community services, supports and resources
- Ability to demonstrate diplomacy and negotiation skills in client/member and system advocacy
- Ability to make sound clinical judgments and to effectively communicate that to others
- Excellent organizational and time management skills




- Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain sound relationships within and outside CMHA
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability and flexibility to work independently on a range of tasks within specified time frames and deadlines and to work as part of a team
- Excellent computer skills and competency in software applications used by the agency
- Demonstrated ability to engage in reasonable self-care strategies that incorporate balancing work/life responsibilities
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills

· Acceptable Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire and to be maintained throughout employment

· Ability to provide effective client services in English and French, is preferred

· Able to meet the essential physical requirements of the position, including the ability to move, ascend, descend and position self from floor and back up for prolonged periods; may require heavy lifting, reaching and repetitive bending

· Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle, if required
