Role Description The Coding and AI Instructor is a part-time, on-site role based in Toronto, ON. The instructor will design and deliver engaging lessons in coding and introductory AI concepts for youth and young adults, using age-appropriate curricula and interactive teaching methods. Day-to-day tasks include preparing lesson plans and teaching materials, leading classroom instruction and hands-on projects, and supporting learners with guidance, feedback, and troubleshooting.

The role also involves assessing learner progress, maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment, and collaborating with staff to improve course content and teaching practices. The instructor may assist with outreach activities, curriculum updates,



and alignment of training programs with The Community Tech’s mission of community empowerment.

Qualifications

Strong programming skills in languages commonly used for teaching (e.g., Python, JavaScript, or Scratch) and familiarity with basic web development concepts.

Foundational knowledge of AI and machine learning concepts, such as algorithms, data handling, and responsible AI practices suitable for beginner learners.

Experience developing and delivering curricula or lesson plans, including project-based and interactive learning activities for kids, teens, or adult beginners.

Demonstrated classroom or workshop facilitation skills, with the ability to manage groups, explain complex topics clearly, and adapt teaching style to diverse learning needs.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to inclusivity, patience, and encouragement for learners from wide-ranging backgrounds.

Ability to collaborate with colleagues, follow organizational guidelines, and contribute to continuous improvement of teaching programs.

Previous teaching, tutoring, or mentoring experience in technology or STEM fields is highly beneficial.

Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Education, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Availability to work part-time on-site in Toronto, ON, including potential evenings or weekends as needed.

Passion for community-focused work and supporting underrepresented and underserved populations in gaining technical skills.
