Position Summary The Youth Social Development (YSD) Coordinator provides leadership and backbone support for Ottawa's Youth Social Development Action Plan and serves as the primary coordinator for the Community Leadership Action Table (CLAT). Working within the Ottawa Child & Youth Initiative (OCYI), the Coordinator brings together youth-serving organizations, government, education, health, and community partners to advance a shared vision for youth wellbeing.

The Coordinator is responsible for facilitating collaborative planning, supporting shared leadership, implementing OCYI's Distributed Youth Engagement Framework, and ensuring youth voices meaningfully shape community priorities and system change. The role combines coalition building, youth engagement, project management, evidence-informed planning, and systems coordination to strengthen collaboration across Ottawa's youth-serving sector. Key Responsibilities

Coalition Leadership, Partnership Development & System Coordination

Coordinate the ongoing development of the Community Leadership Action Table (CLAT), building on OCYI's existing Youth Task Group and partner network.

Support shared governance, membership development, and collaborative decision-making with the City of Ottawa and community partners.

Provide backbone and secretariat support, including agenda development, meeting coordination, documentation, action tracking, membership management, and follow-up on commitments.

Build and sustain collaborative relationships across community, education, municipal, health, and youth-serving sectors.

Convene partners around shared priorities, strengthen collaboration, reduce duplication, and identify opportunities for collective action.

Represent OCYI on committees, working groups, and community tables as appropriate.

Youth Action Plan

Development & Implementation

Lead the co-development of Ottawa's three-year Youth Social Development Action Plan.

Coordinate implementation of Action Plan priorities in collaboration with the CLAT, City of Ottawa, and community partners.

Monitor progress toward Action Plan milestones and support continuous improvement.





Coordinate sustainability and transition planning throughout the project.

Youth

Engagement & Community Voice

Implement OCYI's Distributed Youth Engagement Framework.

Coordinate meaningful youth engagement through existing youth councils, community organizations, schools, grassroots groups, and informal youth spaces.

Plan and facilitate quarterly Youth Town Halls (one in-person and three virtual annually).

Ensure youth engagement is relationship-based, equitable, accessible, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and non-extractive.

Support mechanisms that demonstrate accountability to youth by communicating how youth input influences decisions ("You Said, We Did"). Evidence, Evaluation & Reporting

Review and synthesize research, reports, and community data to inform planning.

Conduct environmental scans and research related to youth wellbeing, emerging trends, and system opportunities.

Coordinate the development and implementation of an evaluation framework with youth, community partners, the CLAT, and the City.

Support participatory evaluation approaches that meaningfully involve youth.

Monitor outcomes, milestones, and indicators related to the Youth Action Plan.

Prepare quarterly and annual reports for the City of Ottawa.

Provide regular progress updates to the OCYI Steering Committee and other governance tables.

Qualifications & Experience

Degree or diploma in Social Work, Community Development, Public Administration, Education, Human Services, Social Sciences, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

Minimum of three (3) years' experience coordinating collaborative initiatives, community development, coalition building, or systems-level projects.

Experience engaging youth through equitable, relationship-based, and participatory approaches.

Experience developing strategic plans, work plans, or community action plans.

Experience conducting research, environmental scans, evaluation, or knowledge mobilization.

Strong understanding of youth wellbeing, positive youth development, and the social and community factors that influence youth outcomes.

Knowledge of collective impact, shared measurement, systems change, and community engagement principles is considered an asset.

Excellent facilitation, project management, organizational, and relationship-building skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently while coordinating multiple priorities and partners.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), virtual meeting platforms, and collaborative digital tools.

Fluency in both English and French is required, including the ability to lead meetings, facilitate collaborative discussions, and prepare professional reports, presentations, and communications in both official languages.
