Salary Range: $19.00 / hr
Position Type: Permanent Seasonal
About the Role The Town of Wolfville is seeking reliable, community-minded individuals to join our team as Crossing Guards for Wolfville School.
Our Crossing guards help ensure the safe movement of students and pedestrians at designated crosswalks during school arrival and dismissal times. Hours of work are September to June, primarily Monday to Friday, 7:45am - 9:15am and 2:25pm - 3:45pm (15 hours per week).
This is a excellent opportunity for anyone who loves working outdoors, values safety, and wants to make a positive impact in our community. This is a role where every day is different, giving you hands-on experience with safety protocols and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist students and pedestrians in safely crossing streets at assigned crosswalk locations.
- Observe and follow all traffic regulations, using provided stop signs and safety equipment.
- Maintain a positive, friendly presence that reflects the values of the Town of Wolfville.
- Report on any safety concerns, incidents, or hazardous conditions to the appropriate Town Staff.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- Effectively able to interact with children and the public.
- The ability to remain alert and perform the job responsibilities in a safe and timely manner.
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
General Duties
- Monitor traffic flow to determine safe gaps for crossing.
- Use a hand held stop sign to halt vehicles.
- Maintain order at crossing points during busy arrival and dismissal times.
- Encourage safe pedestrian habits.
Qualifications and Experience
Education and Experience
- Experience working with children or in a public safety-oriented role is a strong asset.
Requirements
- Applicants must provide clear Criminal Record, Vulnerable Sector, and Child Abuse Registry checks.
- Must have reliable transportation or the ability to commute to the assigned crosswalk location.

Working Conditions
Workplace
- Work takes place outdoors in all weather conditions-including sun, rain, snow, heat, and cold.
- Work is usually at busy intersections, school zones, or pedestrian crossings.
- Exposure to traffic noise and vehicular movement.
- Participation in emergency management as required.
- Safety equipment and training will be provided.
