Alberta Flag Shop — Edmonton, AB Full-Time $20–$23/hour Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Why This Role Exists

Alberta Flag Shop has been Edmonton's flag and flagpole specialist since 1984, and demand is growing — we're heading into our busiest seasons and expanding what we offer. We need one person to run the front of the shop: the face customers see, the voice on the phone, and — as you grow into it — the person quoting jobs and keeping stock flowing. This is not a big-box retail job. You'll work directly alongside the owner, and what you learn to do here, you'll actually own.

About Us

We supply flags, flagpoles, banners, and custom-printed products to businesses, municipalities, schools, and homeowners across Alberta and Western Canada — from a single Canada flag to full flagpole installations. We're a small, hands-on shop where every customer interaction matters and every team member's work is visible. We share a building with our sister print business, so no two days look the same.

What Success Looks Like

Twelve months in, you run the front of the shop without supervision: customers are greeted, phones answered, orders shipped same-day, and stock ordered before we run out. You're quoting standard jobs confidently, and regular customers ask for you by name. You'll have turned walk-in questions into sales more than once a day — and you'll be paid more than you started at, because we review your wage at six months based on exactly this.

What You'll Do

From day one, you will own:

- Greeting walk-in customers and helping them find the right product
- Answering phones and email inquiries — you're the first voice of the business
- Packing and shipping orders accurately and on time




- Receiving stock and keeping inventory organized
- Suggesting add-ons and upgrades — the right accessory, the better flag, the complete solution

Over your first 3–6 months, you'll train into:

- Preparing customer quotes for flags, hardware, and custom work
- Ordering stock from our suppliers
- Troubleshooting customer problems and finding solutions independently

What We're Looking ForRequired
- Customer-facing experience of any kind — retail, food service, front desk, trades counter
- Comfortable on a computer: email, point-of-sale, looking things up, learning new systems
- Reliable — you show up, on time, every day; the shop doesn't open without you
- Able to lift and move stock (flagpole hardware, boxed inventory up to ~50 lbs)
- A genuine instinct for helping people buy the right thing — you like talking to customers and you're not shy about suggesting more

Nice to Have
- Experience with quoting, purchasing, or shipping/receiving
- Sign, print, promotional products, or trade-counter background
- Experience with WooCommerce or online order fulfillment

No industry experience required — we will teach you flags. We can't teach you to care about customers, so that's what we hire for. Compensation & Perks
- $20–$23/hour to start, depending on experience
- Wage review at 6 months tied to taking on quoting and purchasing
- Monday–Friday, 9:00–4:30 — no evenings, no weekends, no holiday retail madness
- Small team, direct access to the owner, real responsibility rapid
