Job Summary

We are seeking a energetic and dedicated Dairy Herdsman Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations of a dairy farm’s herd management. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the health, productivity, and well-being of the dairy cattle while maintaining efficient farm practices. Your leadership will drive the success of herd management programs, optimize milk production, and uphold high standards of animal care.

Responsibilities

- Manage the daily care and health monitoring of dairy herds, ensuring optimal milk production and animal welfare
- Oversee herd breeding programs, including artificial insemination schedules and genetic improvement initiatives
- Maintain detailed records of herd performance, health treatments, and breeding activities
- Coordinate with farm staff to implement feeding schedules, milking routines, and sanitation protocols
- Conduct regular inspections of farm machinery related to herd management, ensuring proper maintenance and safe operation




- Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair farm equipment as needed
- Lead safety initiatives involving heavy lifting tasks and ensure compliance with safety regulations during physical work activities

Experience

- Proven experience managing dairy herds or livestock operations in a farm setting
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery and equipment maintenance
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in various farm tasks
- Familiarity with modern herd management software and record-keeping systems
- Knowledge of animal health protocols, breeding techniques, and nutrition management
- Hands-on experience operating farm machinery such as tractors, feed mixers, and milking equipment is highly desirable
