The Department of Pediatrics in the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine is a provincial academic and clinical department dedicated to advancing equitable, family-centred care for children and youth throughout the province. The department provides comprehensive pediatric care across numerous subspecialties, with core services based at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital and Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon,



and outreach programs extending care to communities across the province. The department is committed to excellence in clinical care, education, and research, and plays a key role in training future pediatricians across Saskatchewan.

The College of Medicine at University of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Health Authority invite nominations and applications for the position of Provincial Department Head, Department of Pediatrics.

Reporting to the Dean of the College of Medicine and the Chief Medical Officer of the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), the Provincial Department Head is responsible for leading the department’s academic, clinical, research, and operational activities. The position ensures that department priorities are aligned with the strategic objectives of both the College and the broader health system. As a member of the senior leadership teams of the College and the SHA, the Provincial Department Head plays a key role in connecting medical education, research, clinical practice, and public health priorities, helping translate knowledge into improved health system performance and high-quality patient-centred care.

The successful candidate will hold an MD and be eligible for licensure in Saskatchewan. They will be an accomplished clinician and respected leader with demonstrated experience in academic and clinical leadership, including mentoring faculty and supporting recruitment and professional development. The ideal candidate will be forward-thinking, collaborative, and engaging, with the ability to inspire diverse teams, communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, and advance the department’s priorities in education, research and clinical care.

the successful candidate will bring the leadership, vision, and administrative expertise required to support the department’s continued growth while strengthening its impact in patient care, medical education, and pediatric research.
