Shape the future of community spaces as the Director of Parks, Recreation & Culture for the City of Nanaimo. This senior position ensures inclusive access to vibrant public services. In this role, you will lead a comprehensive portfolio focused on parks, recreation, and cultural programs.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will work with a large team to align services with community and Council goals. Your leadership will play a key role in enhancing quality of life and fostering inclusive community services. Key Responsibilities:

- Guide the strategic vision for parks and recreation services
- Manage a large, unionized team and service delivery
- Foster partnerships and community engagement initiatives
- Ensure alignment with Council priorities and strategic plans
- Oversee budgets for operating and capital projects Requirements:
- Relevant degree in Recreation, Public Administration, or similar
- Minimum of eight years of leadership experience in a public sector
- Effective relationship-builder and strategic thinker
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License required
- Experience in unionized settings preferred Lead transformative community initiatives that enrich the City of Nanaimo.
