About Maplewood Before & Aftercare:

Maplewood B&A; is a licensed childcare provider dedicated to offering a nurturing, safe, and engaging environment for school-aged children. Our before-and-after-school program emphasizes learning through play, emotional development, and respectful relationships.

Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and reliable Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) to join our team. The successful candidate will assist with planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities, ensuring a positive and inclusive environment, and promoting children’s safety and well-being during the before and after school hours.

Hours of Work:

Afternoon Shift: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM

(PA Days, staff meetings and March breaks may include extended hours)

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in planning and facilitating activities that support children’s physical, emotional, and social development
- Supervise children and ensure their safety at all times
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming workplace
- Support children with transitions between school, and the program




- Comply with all licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and center policies

Qualifications:

- ECA Certificate or working toward Early Childhood Education (ECE) is an asset
- Experience working with school-age children in a group setting
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR Level
- Vulnerable Sector Check (required before start)
- Up-to-date immunizations including TB test (as required by Toronto Public Health regulations)
- A Brief Idea of the Documents – ELECT and How Does Learning Happen
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with Flexibility, patience, and a positive attitude
