About Us

Tiny Explorers Academy is a well-established childcare centre committed to providing children with a safe, healthy, clean, and welcoming environment. We are currently seeking an experienced, reliable, and detail-oriented Evening Cleaner/Custodian who takes pride in maintaining exceptionally high standards of cleanliness while also being comfortable performing basic maintenance tasks around the building.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, has solid organizational skills, and understands that cleanliness and presentation are a direct reflection of the quality of our centre.

Responsibilities

Daily responsibilities include

- Thorough cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms, washrooms, hallways, offices and common areas.
- Vacuuming all carpeted areas.
- Sweeping and mopping all hard surface floors.
- Cleaning and sanitizing washrooms.
- Cleaning windows, glass doors and entrance areas as required.
- Maintaining a consistently high standard of cleanliness throughout the building.
- Keeping janitorial and maintenance closets clean, organized and fully stocked.
- Monitoring cleaning supplies and reporting when inventory needs replenishing.
- Performing periodic deep cleaning projects, including carpet cleaning, high dusting, HVAC intake vents and other scheduled maintenance cleaning.

Light Maintenance Responsibilities The successful candidate should also be comfortable performing basic handyman tasks such as:

- Unclogging sinks and cleaning sink traps.
- Using a toilet auger or drain snake to clear simple blockages.
- Hanging shelves, hooks, pictures and wall-mounted items.
- Installing drywall anchors and screws.
- Tightening loose hardware.
- Minor adjustments to doors,



hinges and latches.
- Assembling simple furniture and equipment.
- Reporting maintenance issues requiring outside contractors.

This is not a licensed trades position. However, applicants should be mechanically inclined and comfortable using basic hand tools.

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who:

- Has a minimum of 3 years of professional commercial cleaning or custodial experience.
- Takes exceptional pride in producing high-quality work.
- Is organized and dependable.
- Can work independently with minimal supervision.
- Has good English communication skills.
- Is physically capable of lifting up to approximately 50 lbs.
- Is legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Is able to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Police Check.

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Evening shift (6:00 PM – 12:00 AM)
- Flexible Friday: Since our centre operates Monday through Friday, the Friday evening shift may be completed at any time over the weekend, giving employees the option of having Friday night off.
