Detailed Overview
Supervises designated Food Service Workers. Receives, records and accounts for payments received. Performs a variety of duties within food services operation.
Responsibilities
- Supervises designated Food Service Workers by scheduling and co-ordinating work assignments, evaluating employee performance and determining related training and orientation requirements.
- Performs clerical duties such as answering the phone, filing and recording information according to established procedures.
- Counts and replenishes food and supply stock according to established quota/levels. Forwards concerns on food and supply stock and/or quota/levels to the Manager or designate.
- Submits food and beverage requisitions to the diet office for product to be ordered.
- Receives orders in computer system once arrived and checked.
- Receives, unpacks and checks incoming goods from supplies. Ensures goods delivered per specifications. Completes associated documentation, including signing off in delivery. Checks invoices against orders and goods received. Resolves discrepancies with suppliers. Identifies and returns any damaged or spoiled goods to suppliers.
- Transports daily cash deposit to hospital cashier and verifies its contents with cashier.
- Balances secure float on a weekly basis.
- Performs food service worker duties such as portioning and serving meals, washing dishes, pots and pans, and receiving cash.
- Prepares the kitchen for service by performing duties such as turning equipment on and off, putting food out,
locking/unlocking doors and drawers.
- Retrieves food item from freezer, fridge and other storage areas, and places them in appropriate areas and/or thaws in fridge as required.
- Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping and mopping floors, taking kitchen laundry to soiled linen area, and returning clean linens to the kitchen.
- Fills requisition/order forms for supplies for department as needed and places for pick up.
- Checks returned meal trays for items not consumed and updates patients/residents diet information as per established policies and procedures. Makes necessary change to update food production information accordingly.
- Works on the production line by placing food items on trays, loading trays into carts and checking trays for accuracy. Delivers and retrieves food trays from patients/residents. Strips returned cart. Prepares late trays as needed.
- Advises Manager or designate of any inoperable, damaged, or unsafe equipment in accordance with established procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Training & ExperienceGrade 12, plus two (2) years' recent related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Current Food Safe
Level 1 certification or equivalent.Skills and Abilities
