Role Description The Freight Broker is a full-time, on-site role based in Burlington, ON. This role is responsible for arranging and coordinating freight movements between shippers and carriers, ensuring cost-effective, timely, and compliant transportation solutions. Day-to-day tasks include sourcing carriers, negotiating rates, booking loads, tracking shipments, and resolving service issues.
The Freight
Broker will manage customer accounts, handle dispatching responsibilities, and provide proactive communication and updates to clients and carriers. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, monitoring market trends,
and collaborating with the operations and warehousing teams to support end-to-end logistics services.
Qualifications
Strong Freight Brokerage and Brokerage skills, with experience arranging and negotiating freight movements.
Proven Customer Service abilities, including clear communication, problem-solving, and relationship building.
Dispatching experience, with the capability to coordinate loads, schedule pickups and deliveries, and manage exceptions.
Account Management skills to maintain client relationships, understand customer needs, and support ongoing business growth.
Knowledge of transportation regulations, modes, and carrier networks;
experience in 3PL or logistics environments is an asset.
Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS), spreadsheets, and other logistics software tools.
Robust organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, on-site environment.
Previous experience in freight brokerage, dispatch, or logistics operations; relevant post-secondary education in business, supply chain, or a related field is an advantage.
