Role Overview The Housekeeping Supervisor oversees daily housekeeping operations to ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic environment while adhering to healthcare standards and financial targets. This role requires effective leadership, operational efficiency, and collaboration across departments to maintain a high-quality living environment for residents and staff. By fostering warm relationships and creating a true sense of home, this role helps reduce loneliness, helplessness, and boredom – key principles of the Eden Alternative.

Key Accountabilities In collaboration with the General Manage, recruit, on-board, mentor and performance manage the housekeeping care partners from initial onboarding through their career in the community, encouraging a team setting that prioritizes resident well-being and meaningful engagement.

Schedule and oversee housekeeping staff to ensure work aligns with company standards. Conduct performance evaluations, offer feedback, and coach staff for improvement. Ensure compliance with healthcare infection control policies in all cleaning tasks.

The supervisor is also responsible for cleaning, as well as monitoring housekeepers to ensure the cleaning of resident rooms, common areas, and any other areas is performed. Develop and enforce cleaning protocols to minimize infection risks. Monitor and maintain inventory levels for cleaning supplies, linens, and PPE.

Manage procurement and optimize supply usage to control costs. Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness and protocol adherence. Address deficiencies or complaints related to housekeeping services.

Collaborate with staff, residents, and management for service improvements. Encourage meaningful interactions between housekeeping care partners and residents, recognizing that a simple conversation or shared moment can enhance daily life. Where appropriate,



involve residents in housekeeping tasks, such as folding laundry or arranging their personal spaces, fostering engagement and a sense of purpose.

Ensure compliance with safety standards for cleaning chemicals and equipment use. Train staff in safe handling of cleaning chemicals and infection prevention. Monitor adherence to AHS guidelines and take corrective actions as needed.

Coordinate with nursing, recreation, and management teams to meet cleaning needs. Actively participate in interdisciplinary meetings to align services with broader goals. Provide support for other housekeeping-related tasks as required.

Monitor and manage housekeeping costs to ensure alignment with budget targets. Prepare financial reports on supply usage, and department expenses. Ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.

Required Education & Documentation High school diploma or equivalent.

Certification in housekeeping or facility management is advantageous. Training in infection prevention and control (IPAC).

Required Skills Leadership and organizational skills to manage staff and operations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration and addressing needs. Financial acumen for budget management and cost control. Proficiency in Microsoft 360 and software for scheduling, inventory management, and financial reporting. Ability to foster a culture of warmth and respect, ensuring that housekeeping services contribute to a vibrant, person-directed living environment.

Additional Preferred

Education and Skills Asset 2-3 years of supervisory experience in housekeeping, preferably in healthcare or senior living settings. Familiarity with hospital-grade cleaning protocols and infection control practices. WHMIS certification.

Certification in infection control or occupational health and safety. CPR or First Aid certification is a plus.
