Insights Analyst General Summary The Insights Analyst is a key member within the DBI Analytics Center of Excellence and is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data into strategic intelligence that informs product, merchandising, marketing, and customer strategies across DBI. Acting as a trusted advisor to cross-functional teams - including Buying, Planning, Design, Digital, Stores, Marketing, and Analytics - this individual provides actionable insights, garnered from researched, syndicated data, and first-party customer data from DSW’s VIP program, that help shape growth strategies and optimize business performance. The Analyst will synthesize a range of market and/or customer data to deliver compelling narratives, influence senior leadership, and support enterprise-level initiatives.
This role is foundational within the Analytics team, focused on executing research, supporting strategic initiatives, and developing storytelling with data and stakeholder engagement. Analysts are expected to work independently on assigned projects while collaborating closely with senior team members to build analytical capabilities, business context, and contribute to a culture of insight-driven decision-making. Success in this role requires a balance of analytical rigor, business acumen, and the ability to clearly communicate trends, opportunities, and recommendations across a range of audiences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Serve as a strategic partner to Merchandising, Marketing, MP&A;, Design, Ecommerce, Stores and executive teams, delivering insights that inform product, brand, marketing, marketing, marketing, experience, and customer strategies. Conducts routine and ad hoc research, including consumer surveys and focus groups, market and competitor trends (from multiple sources including Circana POS and Consumer panel data, and competitive financials), and internal customer reactions (via reviews and surveys), to identify market and customer trends,
whitespace opportunities, and business risks. Deliver executive level insights through recurring and ad hoc reports, such as monthly/quarterly market recaps, earnings call support, vendor presentations, and consumer equity/purchase funnel studies.
Using data visualization tools to create presentations with actionable insights to key stakeholders, including the CEO, CFO, and Brand Presidents. Act as a subject matter expert on market and consumer data sources, training partners to interpret insights and promoting self-service where applicable. Support enterprise strategic priorities – Customer First, Product Obsessed, and Transformation Focused – through focused analysis and cross functional collaboration.
Required Skills: Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making. Strong command of retail analytics, market intelligence and consumer research methodologies, with experience interpreting syndicated data and customer behavior trends. Strong storytelling and presentation skills, with the ability to engage executive stakeholders and cross-functional partners.
Proficiency with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Strategy or equivalent), Excel, PowerPoint, and collaboration platforms. Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, working both independently and as part of a team, with the ability to meet deadlines in a rapid-paced, dynamic environment. Effective communicator who can serve as a liaison between business teams and analytics partners.
Naturally curious, proactive,
and comfortable navigating ambiguity while staying aligned with broader business objectives.
Qualifications 2+ years’ experience with market research, business analytics, consumer research or related field, preferably with a retail, consumer goods, or e-commerce company. Intermediate skills within Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint. Bachelor’s Degree, in Business, Market Research, Statistics, Economics, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in retail, or with retail clients, desired but not required. Previous experience with data platforms, such as Strategy, Tableau, or similar reporting solutions. Previous experience with customer experience (CX) platforms and capabilities.
Project
Management, or related experience.
