Company Description The Canadian Council of Independent Laboratories (CCIL) / Conseil canadien des laboratoires indépendants is a federally incorporated, non-profit organization representing independent, private-sector testing laboratories across Canada, with over 460 member facilities nationwide. CCIL and its members are dedicated to building a strong, nationally and internationally recognized independent laboratory industry. The organization administers laboratory and technician certification programs for construction materials testing laboratories.

Lab Auditor – Part-Time or Full-Time About the Role With the continued growth of our certification programs, CCIL is hiring Lab Auditors in two regions: Eastern Canada and Western Canada. These roles are well suited to candidates who are materials testing professionals that want to apply their technical experience on a flexible, part-time or full-time basis.

Duties involve travel at times out of province and use of a personal vehicle. Reporting to the CCIL Assistant Program Manager (ie Asphalt, Aggregate, Concrete), the Lab Auditor is responsible for inspecting CCIL certified testing laboratories and evaluating laboratory testing staff.

Responsibilities Inspect CCIL-certified testing laboratories, as assigned

Administer practical tests and written examinations to evaluate laboratory testing staff

Schedule your own work hours in coordination with laboratories to be inspected

Prepare and submit lab inspection reports and other certification documents

Effectively use the electronic database (ie CCIL Portal) to schedule audits and report findings





Other duties as assigned by the Certification Program Manager or the Assistant Program Manage

What You Bring Knowledge & Experience Practical, hands-on laboratory testing experience in one or more of concrete, asphalt, and aggregates

Familiarity with CSA, ASTM, ISO 17025 standards and quality management procedures

Experience training laboratory personnel

Experience working with outside agencies – consultants, contractors, and government bodies

Skills & Attributes Strong technical judgement in applying laboratory and technician certification requirements

Excellent oral and written communication skills; transparent, concise report writing

Strong customer relationship skills – professional, patient, honest, and unbiased in dealings with laboratories

Sound analytical and problem-solving ability, with attention to both the big picture and the details

Good planning, organization, and time management; comfortable working independently

Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

A collaborative team player who works well with others

Commitment to staying current with industry developments and applicable standards Position Details Type: Part-time or Full time, employee position
