Lead AI Engineer – AI Platform

We're hiring a Lead AI Engineer to help build and scale an AI-powered platform used to transform complex, industry-specific workflows. This is a hands-on development role focused on creating innovative solutions that leverage generative AI, RAG architectures, document ingestion pipelines, and agentic workflows to solve real-world problems and support rapid growth.

You'll join a rapid-paced, mission-driven environment where engineering excellence, mentorship, and collaboration drive impact. As a key individual contributor, you'll work closely with product, data, design, and architecture teams to shape our technical direction, bring ideas from concept to deployment, and orchestrate scalable AI systems.

What You'll Do

- Design, build, and maintain production-ready AI systems, applied AI/ML pipelines, and agentic workflows
- Architect and optimize robust document ingestion pipelines to serve as the knowledge foundation of the platform
- Evaluate, test, and integrate frontier LLMs, agent frameworks, and modern AI tooling in collaboration with technical leaders
- Participate in and lead architectural discussions, design reviews, code reviews, and technical estimations
- Champion coding standards, automated testing, CI/CD practices, and AI-first development workflows to improve engineering velocity
- Collaborate closely with Product, Data, Design, and QA teams to translate business requirements and UI/UX designs into scalable backend capabilities
- Provide hands-on mentorship, guidance, and knowledge sharing to junior and intermediate engineers as an individual contributor

What You'll Bring





- 5+ years of professional software engineering or data science experience, with 2+ years focused on production AI/ML systems
- Proven track record deploying generative AI, LLMs, RAG architectures, and document processing systems into live production environments
- Strong proficiency in Python and solid experience with modern backend languages (TypeScript, C#/.NET, etc.)
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture, API design, and cloud infrastructure
- Full-stack mindset with familiarity in modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, React Native) and how they integrate with AI backends
- Systems-thinking mindset with a demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and influence technical strategy without formal authority
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit

Bonus Points

- Experience with agentic workflows, prompt engineering, and modern AI development tooling (e.g., Claude Code or similar)
- Hands-on experience building custom evaluation suites (e.g., LLM-as-judge pipelines, human-in-the-loop testing, retrieval optimization)
- Prior experience in a fast-paced startup environment navigating evolving roadmaps
- Exposure to complex enterprise data, document enrichment, or legacy industry workflows
