The Faculty of Business & Information Technologyat Ontario Tech University invites applications from qualified individuals fora one-year, limited-term Academic Associate position teaching courses in theBachelor of Commerce program, including courses supporting the Economics major.The successful candidate may be expected to teach courses such asMicroeconomics, Macroeconomics, Environmental Economics, and Foundations ofBusiness.

Applicants shall possess a graduate degree, preferablya PhD or terminal degree, in Economics, Business Economics, Applied Economics,Environmental Economics, Public Policy, Finance, Management Science, BusinessAdministration, or a closely related field. Preference will be given tocandidates with specialist qualifications in the areas of microeconomics,macroeconomics, applied economics, environmental economics, economic policy,business economics, and the application of economic analysis to business decision-making.Relevant industry experience, university-level teaching experience in hybrid oronline delivery, and experience with data-informed economic analysis, appliedeconometrics, sustainability-focused economics, policy analysis, businessanalytics, or professional experience in government, consulting, financialservices, environmental policy, or industry would be considered assets.

Ontario

Tech is a technology-enhanced learning environment, and the candidate should have demonstrable skills inthe integration of technology and AI into teaching, and be able to model those skills in their own teaching and pedagogy. Dutieswill include preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials and workshops,preparing and marking assignments, tests and examinations, responding tostudent inquiries, maintaining regular office hours, invigilating tests andexaminations along with providing service to the university such as throughcommittees. Duties may include thesupervision of teaching assistant(s) or mentorship of students in casecompetitions.

The successful candidate will be expected to follow an 70%teaching and 20% service and 10% other workload for the year. The Faculty isunique in Canada integrating Business and Information Technology strategically within the one faculty and offers honours undergraduate degrees in Commerce(Co-Op) with majors in OBHR, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Accounting, Marketingand Technology Management. Additionally, weoffer a Bachelor in Information Technology, with majors in Networking and Security, Game Development and Interactive Media, and Technology Management.

At the graduate level, we offer a Master ofBusiness Analytics and AI (MBAI), Master of Financial Data Analytics (MFDA), Master of IT Security degree with an Artificial Intelligence focus (MITS). MSc and PhD programs in Computer Science are offered jointly by the Faculties of Business and IT, and Science. The Faculty also now offers a new PhD inCybersecurity.

- Relevant industry experience, university-level teaching experience in hybrid or online delivery, and experience with data-informed economic analysis, applied econometrics, sustainability-focused economics, policy analysis, business analytics, or skilled experience in government, consulting, financial services, environmental policy, or industry would be considered assets This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association UOIT Faculty Association collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
