Position: Linux Desktop Engineer

Client: Private Sector Technology Company

Location: Toronto (Hybrid)

Duration: 6 - 12 Months initially, potential for Contract to Hire

Overview

- Must have experience with BigFix, Zscaler and engineering depth

Must-Have Skills

- 7+ years of Desktop Support experience in enterprise environments
- Solid Linux Desktop Support and Administration (Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS, Rocky Linux)
- End-to-end desktop/laptop support including hardware, software, OS, and peripherals
- Experience with Level 2/Level 3 support and incident management
- Strong troubleshooting skills for Linux OS, applications, networking, VPN, and connectivity issues
- Experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems
- Knowledge of Active Directory, LDAP, and user account management
- Shell scripting (Bash) and basic automation experience
- Excellent customer-facing communication skills

Key Responsibilities

- Provide end-to-end support for Linux desktop and laptop environments.




- Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, operating system, and application issues.
- Install, configure, patch, and maintain Linux desktop operating systems and applications.
- Support user onboarding, workstation deployments, upgrades, and hardware refresh activities.
- Manage incidents, service requests, and escalations while meeting SLA requirements.
- Troubleshoot network, VPN, printer, authentication, and connectivity issues.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, network, security, and application teams to resolve technical issues.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
- Act as a senior escalation point for desktop support-related issues and provide mentoring to junior team members.
