Position Overview Datamars is seeking a highly motivated Territory Sales Representative (Contractor) to manage and grow livestock business across Western Canada. This role will work closely with distribution partners, retail dealers, livestock producers, and feedlot operators to increase sales across the Datamars livestock portfolio—including livestock identification, Animal Health Delivery Systems (AHDS), electric fencing, and livestock weighing systems. A strong field presence is essential, including regular feedyard visits and hands‑on support across the territory.
This role requires extensive travel, including overnight trips, to ensure strong customer engagement and to drive sell‑through at the distributor and dealer levels.
Territory Coverage
Primary responsibility includes Western Canada, with regular travel required throughout the region. Territory expectations (further discussed in interview):
Southern Alberta: Majority of business; frequent travel required
Northern Alberta: Periodic coverage
Saskatchewan: Quarterly visits Key Responsibilities 1.
Territory Sales
Development
Grow sales across all Datamars livestock categories:
Livestock identification (tags)
Animal Health Delivery Systems (syringes, applicators)
Electric fencing solutions
Livestock weighing systems
Develop strong relationships with livestock producers, feedlots, veterinarians, and retail dealers
Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the territory 2.
Distribution Partner
Management
Work closely with distribution partners and dealer networks to expand category presence
Provide training, product education, and field demonstrations for distributor sales teams
Support merchandising, in‑store promotions, and product positioning
Drive sell‑through performance with distributors and dealers to ensure product movement and retail success 3.
Customer
Support & Field Presence
Conduct regular feedyard visits as part of consistent field presence across the territory
Maintain routine in‑person visits with livestock producers, veterinarians, and key accounts
Provide technical support, product training, troubleshooting, and equipment set‑up as needed
Assist with product trials, demonstrations, and on‑site installations
Gather and share customer feedback, market trends, and competitive insights 4.

Planning & Reporting
Maintain comprehensive territory plans and customer visit schedules
Provide timely updates on sales activity, pipeline opportunities, and territory performance
Coordinate with internal teams on product availability, logistics, and customer requirements
Use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting, planning, and presentations Qualifications Required
5+ years of experience in agricultural sales, livestock production, or animal health
Robust knowledge of the Canadian livestock industry
Ability and willingness to travel extensively across Western Canada, including overnight stays
Strong communication skills and ability to build trusted relationships
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
