Mechanical Engineering AI Trainer About The Role We partner with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more capable AI systems — and we need mechanical engineers to make it happen. As an AI Trainer, you'll use your deep technical expertise to challenge, evaluate, and improve how advanced language models reason through complex engineering problems. This is a unique chance to work at the frontier of AI development without leaving your home office.
Your knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, and more will directly shape the next generation of AI.
Organization: Alignerr
Type: Hourly Contract
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week What You'll Do Design Challenging Problems — Create advanced mechanical engineering problems spanning FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, material science, and mechatronics to stress-test AI reasoning
Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning
Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for accuracy, safety, and compliance with standards like ASME and ISO
Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors such as incorrect force distributions or energy conservation violations, and provide structured feedback to improve model performance
Document Failure Modes — Systematically record where and how AI reasoning breaks down so research teams can harden model capabilities Who You Are Holds or is pursuing a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
Strong foundational expertise in solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, CAD/CAM, thermodynamics, or manufacturing processes
Able to communicate complex physical phenomena and technical derivations clearly in writing
Highly precise — you catch errors in mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints
Self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable working independently on a flexible schedule
No prior AI experience required Nice to Have Experience with data annotation, evaluation systems, or quality assurance workflows
