Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to support our engineering team in developing, testing, and refining electro-mechanical systems used in transit applications. This paid internship offers a hands-on opportunity to gain valuable experience in system design, drafting, and manufacturing processes while working on real-world projects that impact public transportation solutions.
Duties
Assist in designing mechanical components and assemblies using CAD software such as SolidWorks and Creo.
Create detailed technical drawings, schematics, and documentation adhering to industry standards.
Support the development of system prototypes through drafting, modeling, and analysis.
Participate in testing procedures utilizing tools like MATLAB, LabVIEW, and CNC machinery to evaluate system performance.
Contribute to the creation and review of schematics for electrical and mechanical systems involving programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams on system design improvements and manufacturing processes.
Help maintain accurate records of project progress, test results, and technical specifications.
Experience
Enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program or related field with a strong interest in electro-mechanical systems.
Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks or Creo is required; experience with Drafting is a plus.
Knowledge of MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar simulation tools is advantageous.
Understanding of mechanical principles, schematics, and manufacturing processes is essential.
Hands-on experience with CNC machines or system design projects will be considered an asset.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Excellent communication skills to clearly document technical work and contribute to team discussions.
