Lease Operator (Owner Operator) – Frac Sand DivisionPosition Overview

PLEASE NOTE: This is a Contract Owner-Operator position. Gross business revenue yields CA$35,000 to CA$50,000 per month depending on equipment availability and lane volume.

Natural Resource Recovery Group (NRG) is seeking professional, safety-focused Lease Operators (Owner Operators) to join our growing Western Canadian Frac Sand Division. This opportunity is ideal for experienced transportation professionals who own or lease their own tractor, or tractor and trailer, and are committed to delivering exceptional service to our customers throughout Alberta and British Columbia.

As a Lease Operator, you will operate as an independent contractor with NRG's operation, while benefiting from our dedicated dispatch, logistics, customer relationships, safety support, and administrative services. Our operators play a critical role in supporting Canada's energy sector by safely transporting frac sand to drilling and completion sites while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, compliance, and equipment reliability.

Key Responsibilities

- Safely transport frac sand and related bulk commodities throughout Western Canada.
- Operate and maintain your truck, or truck and trailer combination, in a secure, clean, and professional condition.
- Ensure all cargo is transported, secured, and delivered in compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Follow customer site procedures, including oilfield safety standards, loading and unloading protocols, and PPE requirements.
- Accurately complete Bills of Lading,



electronic documentation, logbooks, inspection reports, and required operational paperwork.
- Utilize company technology platforms for dispatch communication, trip management, electronic forms, and compliance reporting.
- Communicate professionally with Dispatch, Operations, customers, and field personnel regarding load status, delays, or operational concerns.
- Maintain compliance with all National Safety Code (NSC), Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA), Hours of Service, and applicable transportation regulations.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and promptly report mechanical concerns to minimize downtime.
- Represent NRG professionally at customer locations while providing exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

- Class 1 Driver's Licence with a clean commercial driving abstract.
- Minimum two (2) years of commercial highway driving experience (oilfield or bulk commodity transportation preferred).
- Experience hauling frac sand or other oilfield commodities is considered a strong asset.
- Strong knowledge of Western Canadian highway networks and oilfield operations.
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs), Hours of Service regulations, and transportation compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work rotational schedules and varying hours based on customer demand.




- Commitment to maintaining a professional image and a safety-first mindset.

Equipment Requirements

- Highway Tractor; or
- Highway Tractor with Trailer.

Equipment must:

- Meet all Provincial and Federal commercial vehicle safety requirements.
- Maintain valid registration, insurance, and operating permits.
- Successfully pass NRG's equipment inspection and onboarding requirements.
- Be maintained in safe operating condition at all times.

Required Documentation

- Valid Class 1 Driver's Licence.
- Current Commercial Driver's Abstract.
- Current CVIP Inspection (where applicable).
- Proof of Commercial Vehicle Insurance.
- WCB Clearance (if applicable).
- GST Registration.
- Safety Fitness Certificate (if operating under your own authority where applicable).
- Drug & Alcohol Testing (Industry Standard).
- CSO, H2S, First Aid
