Overview of the Position
If you are looking for an opportunity to gain experience working in the public sector, Seine River School Division may be the right place for you!
Payroll clerks support the processing of payroll for various employee groups. You will maintain and update employee information to calculate pay, prepare, and verify statements of earnings, ensure accurate deductions such as taxes, union dues, garnishments, benefits, and pension plan contributions. You will prepare payroll related filings and supporting documentation, such as year-end statements and Records of Employment.
You will also receive and respond to payroll related inquiries from employees, identify and resolve discrepancies, and support the development and implementation of payroll procedures and processes.
You will also assist the Finance Department with selected accounting and finance functions. This position is ideal for an individual who enjoys working with numbers, providing excellent customer service, and contributing to a collaborative team setting.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Minimum one (1) year of experience preparing and processing payroll in a multi-union environment. Completion of, or working toward, the Canadian Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of payroll legislation, statutory deductions, taxable benefits, and pension administration.
- Experience reconciling payroll-related accounts and assisting with monthly financial reconciliations.
- Experience using payroll software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or business administration,
and/or experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, or other accounting functions, is considered an asset.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Pay: $56,721.00-$61,067.00 per year
