About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team at Vaco by Highspring. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payments for our diverse workforce. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of payroll administration, experience working with unionized employees, and proficiency with Ceridian Dayforce.

As a key member of the payroll department, you will collaborate closely with Human Resources, finance, and external stakeholders to deliver seamless payroll services. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining organizational compliance with legislative requirements and enhancing payroll system efficiencies. This position is vital for supporting employee satisfaction and organizational integrity, making it an excellent opportunity for professionals seeking to advance their payroll career within a reputable organization.

Qualifications The successful candidate will possess a minimum of five years of full-cycle payroll experience, demonstrating a thorough understanding of payroll processing, reconciliation, and compliance.

Experience with Ceridian Dayforce is required, along with a background in managing unionized payroll environments. Candidates should hold relevant payroll certifications such as PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner)



or similar designations, reflecting their commitment to professional development. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information with integrity are essential.

Additionally, excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are highly valued. A solid understanding of statutory deductions, benefits administration, and pension reporting is also necessary.

Responsibilities In this role, your primary responsibilities will include preparing and processing payroll data to ensure employees are paid accurately and on schedule. You will review and validate payroll transactions such as new hires, terminations, promotions, salary adjustments, and benefit deductions, performing audits and reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies before payroll submission. Preparing payroll journal entries and ensuring proper recording in the general ledger will be part of your duties, along with reconciling statutory deductions, payroll taxes, and third-party remittances.

You will serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries related to pay statements, deductions, advantages, and direct deposits, providing timely and professional support. Assisting employees with payroll system updates, including banking information and benefit enrollments, will be vital. You will also coordinate off-cycle payments, cheque reissues, and manage employee onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and internal policies.

Managing perks and pension administration is another key aspect, involving coordinating enrollments, changes, and terminations,



as well as reconciling payroll data with benefit providers. You will prepare and submit statutory filings, remittances, and reports to government agencies, acting as a liaison with external stakeholders. Participating in system enhancements, process improvements, and staying current with payroll legislation will be ongoing responsibilities.

Maintaining accurate payroll records, supporting documentation, and ensuring confidentiality are critical to your role, along with supporting special projects and other HR/payroll initiatives as needed.
