Reporting to the Manager, Pharmacy Services, the Pharmacist works within an inter-professional and collaborative team to deliver holistic, comprehensive, healthcare services in a patient-centered environment. The Pharmacist has accountability and responsibility for the procurement and dispensing of medications, as well as their safe and effective use by patients, the prevention of disease and the promotion of health and wellness and independent prescribing within cooperative practices. The Pharmacist provides information about the optimal use of medications and promotes the cost effectiveness of medications through evidence based decision making.
Further, pharmacists contribute to the knowledge base of drug information by partaking in practice based research initiatives, and promoting evidence based practice or services through drug use evaluation.
The Pharmacist ensures that the principles and practices that guide Nova Scotia Health such as the vision, mission, values, expected behaviours, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and inter-professional collaboration are integrated within the support that is provided by the work that they do and through the messages they deliver.About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
Licensed or eligible for licensure with the Nova Scotia Pharmacy Regulator (NSPR)
Two (2) years recent related experience an asset
Completion of a hospital residency program an asset
Member of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists an asset
BLS (Basic Life Support) required
Computer proficiency
Knowledge of pharmacokinetics relevant to area of practice/populations served
Demonstrated accountability
Demonstrated judgement and decision making skills
Strong client focus and ability to build solid client/practitioner relationships
Demonstrated communication and conflict resolution skills
Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork skills
Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation
Demonstrated leadership abilities
Demonstrated planning, organization and time management skills
Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practices and organizational health
Travel may be required

Compensation and Benefits
