- Corporate discounts (subject to employment agreement) Job Summary As a Portfolio Manager on the Central 1 Team, you will oversee Central1’s $6billion Treasury Securities Portfolio, managing a diverse mix of Canadian and U.S. dollar investments that support the organization’s liquidity needs while driving financial performance. You will shape and execute investment strategies, balance risk and return within established policies, and contribute directly to Central1’s financial strength and long‑term success.
Responsibilities - Provide financial return for the organization while delivering liquidity for Central1’s business activities
- Develop and execute strategies to enhance returns across Central1’s Securities Portfolio
- Outperform the benchmarks established for the Portfolio
- Prepare and deliver reports, presentations, analysis and commentaries detailing historic performance, strategies, opportunities and risks for the ALCO, MRC,
ELT and Board Risk Committee
- Ensure the portfolio meets day‑to‑day and long‑term liquidity needs
- Support and refine Central1’s approach to incorporating ESG factors into the investment process
- Ensure all account documentation and actions meet Central1 and external regulatory compliance requirements
- Structure and manage the portfolio within the parameters outlined in the Credit and Counterparty Risk Policy, Market Risk Policy, Investment Standard and Liquidity and Funding Policy
- Review and respond to risk management reports
- Respond to credit union inquiries as subject‑matter expert Qualifications - Undergraduate or Master’s degree in Finance and/or Business Administration and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation
- 5+ years financial management experience with a strong understanding of fixed‑income and derivative markets
- Robust quantitative techniques, analytical skills and significant trading experience with fixed‑income securities and financial derivatives
- Ability to manage the risks and returns of a large investment portfolio prudently
- Background in delivering solid, sustainable returns
- Operational understanding of financial accounting,
including IFRS and BaselIII Capital and Liquidity Rules
- Experience working with credit unions and/or within the credit union system is an asset
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
- Advanced knowledge of Bloomberg and CanDeal
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of capital markets etiquette and relationship building with financial and market professionals
- Cross‑departmental and divisional interaction required
- Strategic problem‑solver with a practical bias to drive impact
- Self‑motivated, intellectually curious, and committed to continuous improvement, learning and professional development
- Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently Compensation Salary range: $110,000–$130,000 plus variable annual pay incentive of 30%–45%. The salary represents the rate for a fully competent candidate; actual pay will vary with market conditions and relevant factors such as experience and qualifications.
