Seeking overnight in-home caregiver for Saturdays or Sundays (9 pm to 7 am) with at least 2 years of caregiving experience related to high needs seniors (Parkinson and Alzheimer’s) and relevant diploma/degree. To care for our elderly parents.
Responsibilities
Mom has atypical Parkinson's and very disabled - non-communicative, non-mobile. Need to spoon feed and provide toileting/diapering care. Dad has early stages Alzheimer’s. Other duties: Administer meds, change clothing/wipe down mom with washcloth, light housekeeping duties, prepare meals, etc. Able or learn to use mechanical lift. Assist with personal hygiene. First Aid and CPR. Criminal check required. Canadian citizen/PR or work visa applicants.
Experience
- At least 2 years of related experience preferred.
- Work experience with seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring dementia care.
- Experience in medication administration and patient care
- Light lifting and maneuvering of wheelchair, some kneeling and bending down.
Work hours: Saturdays or Sundays 9 pm to 7 am. Hours may increase if candidate is suitable. Location: In-home care in Vancouver near UBC (V6L postal code). Compensation: $30/hr. Overtime pay (1.5x) after 8 hours. On payroll (deduct CPP, EI and income taxes), and NOT cash (not negotiable). Looking for commitment of at least one year or more. Ability to speak Cantonese is a bonus. Submit resume.
