Who we are

Health:One is a neuro-behavioural health practice in Oakville, led by Dr. Ryan Quinn, OD. We work with children and adults recovering from concussion, and with people managing migraines, motion sensitivity, attention difficulties, and reading and learning problems. Much of the treatment is movement: balance, coordination, timing and visual-motor work.

We're hiring one person to work alongside Dr. Quinn within his practice in the PEAC Health clinic (https://peachealth.ca/team/dr-ryan-quinn). Internally we call the role Movement & Body Coordination Specialist. You don't need clinical experience, a designation or a specific degree. We'll train you in all of it, and you're paid while you learn.

What you'll do

You're in the room for appointments from your first week. Within a few weeks you'll start leading parts of the appointment yourself, eventually building toward running your own one-on-one rehabilitation sessions.

- Welcome and call patients, and set up and take down the room for each session
- Take clear clinical notes on the computer
- Observe closely while Dr. Quinn works, then lead selected activities yourself
- Walk patients through assessments
- Track progress between visits and support patients with their home exercises
- On your feet and on the floor: kneeling, squatting, crawling, getting up and down, demonstrating movements like cat-cow and basic yoga positions, and spotting patients on balance equipment

Guide patients through exercises including:
- Balance and vestibular training
- Rhythm, timing and coordination work
- Hand-eye and visual-motor coordination
- Developmental movement patterns
- Posture and body awareness
- Primitive reflex integration

About you What we're looking for in a candidate:

- Warm and expressive, and comfortable with children, teenagers and adults
- Reads body language and picks up what someone isn't saying out loud

- Stays steady and curious when another person is anxious or overwhelmed, rather than pushing them through it
- Coachable, and willing to go home and read more about something you saw that day
- Organized enough to write clear notes and keep records straight

Backgrounds that fit well:
- Coaches and instructors: gymnastics, dance, swim, skating, martial arts, cheer, climbing
- Camp counsellors, recreation leaders, outdoor educators and youth-program staff
- Personal trainers and movement coaches
- Early childhood educators, educational assistants and child and youth workers
- Students and recent graduates in kinesiology, psychology, neuroscience, child and youth care, recreation therapy, rehabilitation, OTA/PTA or behavioural science

None of these is a requirement. Character, coachability and reliability matter as much as experience here.

What we offer

- Pay based on experience, training and how much responsibility you take on
- Paid training, and direct mentorship from a clinician with 23 years in neuro-behavioural optometry
- Clinical skills that are rarely taught outside a specialist practice
- A path to running your own sessions, and to our Burlington and Milton locations as they grow

Health:One is an equal opportunity employer. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in any stage of the selection process. Pay: $22.00-$40.00 per hour

Benefits

- In office gym
- On-site parking

Application question(s):
- This role is Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, roughly 10:00am–4:00pm, with Tuesdays and Thursdays sometimes running to 7:00pm. Can you commit to the majority of this?
- This role involves floor work: kneeling, crawling, demonstrating movements and spotting people on balance equipment. Are you able to perform these activities?
- Tell us about a time you were working with someone (a kid, a client, a student) and they weren't getting it. What did you do? A few sentences is plenty, we're not looking for an essay.
