Join our dedicated team as a Respite Worker and become a vital support for individuals with disabilities and their families. In this rewarding role, you will provide temporary relief to primary caregivers by engaging with clients in a safe, nurturing environment. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference while developing your skills in caregiving, teaching, and support.
- Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) certificate, Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate, Health Care Aide (HCA) certificate, or an equivalent caregiving qualification is considered a strong asset.
- Previous experience providing care or support to adults with disabilities, mental health conditions, or individuals requiring assistance with activities of daily living is an asset.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
- Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check are required before employment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, compassionate, patient, and able to work independently.
- Ability to assist with personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders, housekeeping, and community activities.
- Valid Saskatchewan driver’s licence is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate engaging activities tailored to each client’s interests and abilities,
- promoting social interaction and skill development
- Support clients with daily routines such as mobility, communication, hygiene, and recreational activities
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, and team members to ensure consistent care plans and address individual needs effectively
- Maintain detailed records of client progress, activities conducted, and any incidents or concerns that arise during shifts
- Ensure a protected environment by adhering to health and safety protocols at all times
- Provide emotional support to clients, fostering a positive atmosphere that encourages independence and confidenceSkills
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in caregiving roles
- Prior experience working with children is highly desirable
- Strong teaching skills to effectively guide clients through activities and skill-building exercises
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with families, team members, and clients
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude to support diverse needs in a respectful manner
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and individual preferences
- Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures relevant to caregiving environments
