Role Description The Sales Apprentice role is a full-time, position designed to develop foundational sales skills within the roofing and building envelope industry. On a day-to-day basis, the Sales Apprentice will support senior sales representatives by researching prospects, preparing sales materials, and assisting with customer outreach via phone, email, and virtual meetings.
Responsibilities include learning product specifications, participating in virtual training sessions, helping to prepare proposals and quotations, and updating CRM records with accurate customer and opportunity information. The role also involves coordinating with internal teams to ensure timely responses to client inquiries, supporting basic follow-up activities,
and gradually taking on more direct sales responsibilities under mentorship.
The Sales
Apprentice is expected to learn and apply Garland’s consultative selling approach while maintaining professional, service-oriented communication with customers and colleagues.
Qualifications
Foundational sales skills, including prospecting, lead qualification, and customer follow-up.
Strong communication abilities, including explicit verbal communication, professional writing, and active listening.
Business and analytical skills, such as understanding customer needs, interpreting data, and supporting proposal preparation.
Comfort with digital tools and remote work technologies, including CRM systems, email, video conferencing, and office productivity software.
Ability to work independently while seeking guidance when needed, with strong time management and organizational skills.
Interest in the construction, roofing, or building envelope industry; technical aptitude and willingness to learn product details.
High level of integrity, customer focus, and a growth mindset oriented toward continuous learning and professional development.
Post-secondary education in business, marketing, construction management, or a related field is an asset; prior sales or customer service experience is beneficial but not required.
