SEO Specialist (Contract)

We're looking for a proactive, experienced SEO Strategist to join our team on a three-month contract to support a recent client engagement. This is a hands-on role that combines SEO strategy, technical implementation, content optimization, and ongoing performance monitoring.
We're looking for someone who doesn't just identify opportunities—they help execute them. You'll become an extension of our team, collaborating through Slack, participating in client meetings, and providing regular updates on progress and priorities.
What You'll Do
Conduct a comprehensive SEO and AI Search (AEO) audit of the client's website, course pages, and content ecosystem.
Present findings and prioritized recommendations to the client.
Develop practical SEO and content recommendations based on audit findings.
Optimize existing website content while respecting legal terminology and client approval processes.
Identify opportunities for new supporting content.
Implement approved SEO improvements directly within the website (where applicable) and work collaboratively with our team on items requiring additional support.
Review Google Analytics 4 setup and existing performance data.
Monitor
Organic traffic
User engagement
Search visibility
Behavioural insights
Provide ongoing optimization recommendations based on performance.
Deliver
Brief monthly progress summaries A final strategic recommendations report at the end of the engagement
What We're Looking For The ideal contractor is:
Proactive and self-managing; you identify opportunities and move work forward without waiting for direction.
Comfortable working directly with clients and presenting recommendations.
Responsive and reliable, with excellent communication skills.
Able to integrate into our existing workflow using Slack and task management tools.
Comfortable balancing strategy with hands-on implementation.
Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities.
Required Experience
Demonstrated experience developing and executing successful SEO strategies.
Strong technical SEO knowledge.
Experience conducting SEO audits and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
Experience implementing SEO changes within WordPress or other CMS platforms.

Schema markup (preferred)
Experience using
Google Analytics 4
Google Search Console
Ahrefs, Semrush, or similar SEO tools
Familiarity with AI search optimization (AEO) and how content appears in AI-powered search experiences is considered a strong asset.
Communication & Collaboration Expectations
This role is highly collaborative. We're looking for someone who will:
Provide a brief weekly update outlining completed work, current priorities, blockers, and next steps.
Participate in client meetings as required.
Be available during regular business hours for occasional discussions and project coordination.
Work within our Slack workspace and task management system as an integrated member of our team.
