We're teaching machines to see the built world — and we need someone who can build the eyes. AIAEC is an AI-native engineering technology company building the computer vision and machine learning systems that power the next generation of AEC (architecture, engineering, construction) automation. We're not bolting AI onto old workflows — we're rebuilding them from the ground up.
If you want your code to actually ship, your models to actually matter, and your ideas to actually reach production instead of dying in a notebook, keep reading. We're hiring a Senior Image Processing / ML Engineer to own critical pieces of our computer vision and ML pipeline — from CAD feature detection and OCR to cutting-edge vision-language model experimentation. This is a hands-on, build-it-and-ship-it role on a small, fast-moving team where your work will be in production within weeks, not quarters.
What You'll Do
Own and evolve our image processing pipeline — CAD feature detection, anomaly identification, and OCR integration.
Design and deploy ML and computer vision models that solve real, gnarly, real-world problems — not toy datasets.
Build and scale production microservices/APIs using FastAPI (or Flask) that serve ML models reliably at scale.
Tackle unstructured visual and document data — extracting signal from CAD drawings, scanned documents, and spatial data.
Push the boundaries of what's possible with Vision-Language Models and Transformers, and bring bleeding-edge research into production.
Collaborate closely with a small, senior team where your voice shapes the roadmap — not just the sprint.
Minimum
Qualifications
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience with 4+ years in production engineering).
Data Structures & Algorithms: Robust proficiency in core data structures and algorithms, time/space complexity analysis (O(n), O(1) memory tradeoffs),
and the critical problem-solving skills to tackle complex, novel coding challenges.
Core ML & Computer Vision: 3+ years of hands-on experience developing ML/CV pipelines using PyTorch (or TensorFlow) and OpenCV.
Python Backend Engineering: High proficiency in Python (including async programming, OOP, and clean code standards), with experience building production microservices/APIs using FastAPI (or Flask).
Data Processing & Pipelines: Experience handling unstructured visual or document data extraction (e.g., PyMuPDF, OCR frameworks, or spatial vector analysis).
Software Engineering & Deployment: Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, Git workflows, unit/integration testing, containerization (Docker), and cloud deployment (AWS or GCP).
Preferred
Qualifications
VLM & Transformer Fine-Tuning: Practical experience training, fine-tuning, or evaluating Vision-Language Models (like Qwen-VL, NVIDIA Cosmos) or Vision Transformers (ViTs).
Training Acceleration & Acceleration Libraries: Familiarity with up-to-date fine-tuning and acceleration frameworks such as Unsloth, FlashAttention, Hugging Face (PEFT/TRL), PyTorch FSDP, or custom Triton kernels.
Model Inference & Serving Engines: Experience deploying and scaling high-throughput model serving frameworks (e.g., vLLM, TensorRT-LLM, or Triton Inference Server).
CAD & Spatial Data Processing: Experience parsing or analyzing technical drawings, CAD formats (DXF/DWG), or spatial geometry data.
Advanced Degree: Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field. Why AIAEC
Small team, real ownership, no bureaucracy between your code and production.
Work at the frontier of applied AI in an industry ripe for disruption — AEC technology is wide open territory.
Hybrid flexibility based out of our Montréal office — collaborate in person where it counts, work heads-down where it doesn't.
Direct access to leadership and a real say in technical direction, not just execution. If you've been looking for a place to do your best technical work — without the red tape — let's talk.
