Markage is looking for a Senior Shopify E-commerce Developer to join our fully remote Canadian team. This role focuses on Shopify development and connected e-commerce systems. You will build, improve, maintain, and troubleshoot Shopify stores for multiple clients.

Your work may include theme development, custom storefront features, third-party integrations, webhooks, APIs, performance improvements, custom applications, and headless Shopify projects. This is a senior role for someone who can work independently, make sound technical decisions, communicate clearly, and manage several client projects at the same time. WordPress development is not part of this position.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain Shopify themes using Liquid, JSON, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

Create and update product, collection, cart, landing-page, and content templates

Develop reusable Shopify sections, blocks, snippets, metafields, and metaobjects

Use Shopify CLI for local development, previewing, testing, and deployment

Work with Shopify Admin API, Storefront API, GraphQL, webhooks, and JSON data

Integrate Shopify with marketing, CRM, inventory, fulfillment, payment, analytics, and other business systems

Build or support custom Shopify applications and headless storefront components

Deploy and maintain custom services or storefront applications using Vercel

Use Git and GitHub for branches, commits, pull requests, code reviews, and releases

Diagnose theme, application, integration, performance, and deployment issues

Test work across desktop and mobile browsers

Protect store performance, accessibility, analytics, search visibility, and checkout functionality

Review technical requirements, estimate work, identify risks, and communicate progress

Work with designers, marketers, studio managers,



and other developers

Document completed work, integrations, and release requirements

Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly for research, debugging, documentation, and code support Required Qualifications

Current Dex Professional Certification in Information Technology at the Senior Specialist level

At least three years of professional Shopify development experience

Strong experience with Shopify theme development and customization

Advanced knowledge of Liquid, JSON, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design

Experience with Shopify CLI, Git, GitHub, APIs, GraphQL, webhooks, and third-party integrations

Experience working with Vercel, Node.js, Next.js, or similar development tools

Strong debugging, performance testing, and cross-browser testing skills

Experience managing several client stores, projects, and deadlines

Explicit written and spoken English

Ability to explain technical decisions to clients and non-technical team members

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

Portfolio showing recent Shopify development work

Legal authorization to work in Canada without employer-sponsored work authorization

Reliable internet access and a suitable remote workspace Preferred Qualifications

Shopify Plus experience

Experience with Shopify Functions,



custom applications, theme app extensions, or checkout extensions

Headless Shopify development experience

TypeScript or automated testing experience

GitHub Actions or other deployment workflow experience

Experience with subscriptions, bundles, B2B, international stores, or complex product structures

Experience working in a studio, agency, consulting, or multi-client environment What We Offer

Annual salary of $63,000 to $78,000 CAD
