Systems Administrator - Remote Canada

Pay: CA$65,000.00 to CA$75,000.00 per year

Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Remote, Canada, Eastern Time business hours Technical Lab Evidence Strongly Preferred A demonstrable technical lab or test environment that you personally operate, understand and can demonstrate will be considered a significant asset. Candidates are encouraged to upload one document containing three to six screenshots showing:

Your hypervisor or cloud console with labelled systems A VLAN, trunk, routing, firewall or other network configuration

At least one server, cloud, security, monitoring, backup or infrastructure component Hyper-V, VMware, Proxmox, Azure, AWS, Sophos Firewall Home Edition, pfSense, OPNsense, GNS3, EVE-NG, Cisco Modeling Labs, Packet Tracer, Docker, Kubernetes and comparable platforms are acceptable. Physical hardware is not required. Candidates who submit lab evidence and are shortlisted may be asked to provide a recorded tour and demonstrate the same environment through a live screen share.

Strong submissions will show depth and variety, such as:

Multiple VLANs and inter-VLAN routing

Trunking, VPNs, firewalls and ACLs

Firewall (e.g.

Sophos Firewall Home

Edition) with NAT, VPN, web filtering, etc. configured

Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy

Multiple virtual networks or simulated sites

Backup and restore testing

Databases, application servers or RDS (Remote Desktop Services)

Automation or infrastructure as code A generic lab description, basic Packet Tracer topology or single standalone VM will carry less weight than evidence of a broader environment.
