Are you a technically credible HVAC/R professional who thrives on growing client relationships and turning technical expertise into commercial results?
We are hiring a Technical Account Manager on behalf of a Toronto-based, 35-year-established commercial HVAC/R and mechanical services company. With a mature Eastern Ontario operation and a strong reputation built on technical credibility, the company is actively expanding into the Greater Toronto Area and investing in dedicated account management to support that growth.
This role is focused on farming and growing existing accounts - not cold calling. You will own a defined book of cross-market portfolio accounts spanning multiple Ontario markets, serving as the technical backbone that keeps quoting sharp, handoffs clean, and client relationships expanding.
The role spans four core areas: estimating support, deal-to-delivery handoff, account management, and customer-facing sales conversations. This is a unique prospect to take ownership of a portfolio of established client relationships and play a key role in expanding a well-established HVAC/R services company across Ontario. If you are a consultative, technically proficient professional who builds trust through solving problems rather than selling features, this role offers the stability, autonomy, and upside to match.
Responsibilities: Own and grow a defined book of cross-market portfolio accounts across Ontario, with a focus on expanding relationships into the GTA market
Prepare and review quotes and bids with true cost-to-deliver discipline, including technical takeoffs, equipment sizing, and scope definition
Manage the transition from signed deal to field delivery, confirming scope,
materials, and scheduling requirements with the operations team
Serve as the primary technical point of contact through delivery, ensuring margin, scope, and client expectations are maintained
Conduct customer-facing sales conversations, site walkthroughs, and technical presentations that turn audit findings into qualified opportunities
Drive renewals, relationship continuity, and expansion scope within the portfolio book, including converting single-service customers to preventative maintenance contracts
Support the Director of Business Development on active pursuits that require technical depth to close
Maintain accurate CRM data, forecasts, and activity tracking (HubSpot)
Provide market intelligence on competitors, pricing trends, and customer needs within the Ontario market
Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in account management, technical sales, or client-facing roles within HVAC/R, mechanical services, or a related technical services industry
Strong technical proficiency in commercial HVAC/R systems - chillers, RTUs, boilers, MUAs, and controls - with the ability to hold credible conversations with facility directors, chief engineers, and property managers
Exposure to estimating or quoting with an understanding of true cost-to-deliver and the ability to defend margin
Experience in commercial or institutional sectors rather than residential only
Familiarity with field-service software (BuildOps experience is an asset) and CRM systems (HubSpot preferred)
Strong communication, presentation, and relationship management skills
Demonstrated stability - candidates with a track record of commitment and growth within their organizations are strongly preferred
About You: Consultative and advisor-driven - you sell by solving, not by pushing, and you are comfortable with a longer commercial cycle
Structured and disciplined - you thrive with a defined lane, clear metrics, and well-established boundaries
Technically credible - your HVAC/R knowledge earns trust in the room, whether you come from the tools, an OEM, or a distributor background
Relationship-focused with the ability to grow existing accounts through trust, follow-through, and technical value
Builder mindset - you want to help scale a growing branch, not just fill a seat
High level of ownership and accountability over your portfolio
Adaptable and comfortable operating in a growth-oriented environment
What We Can Offer You: Compensation: $80,000-$110,000 Base + 10-30% performance bonus tied to account retention, growth, and operational handoffs
Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement
Comprehensive health and dental benefits
High degree of autonomy and ownership over your portfolio accounts
Clear career progression path into Business Development leadership as the company continues to scale
Opportunity to play a key role in building a new regional market
