About the role The APN Intern position is an internship that provides opportunity for a registered nurse to apply the new knowledge and skill that is being acquired through current enrollment in a Masters, NP certificate.
What you'll be doing Engage in direct and in‐direct advanced clinical practice, education, research and consultation within an identified clinical specialty area to ensure the highest quality of care provided to patients and families.

Actively participate as part of the program and professional leadership team in promoting quality care by implementing evidence based practices, evaluating patient outcomes, development and evaluation of policies, clinical programs and services.

Model both the professional and organization core competencies and provide expert clinical nursing leadership.
Provides expert direct client care based upon on in depth knowledge of nursing and other relevant sciences.
Applies learning to advance nursing practice including assessment, diagnosis therapeutic management and evaluation.
With supervision, orders evidence informed treatment, and adjusts treatment plan accordingly.

What you bring Master in Nursing/Nurse Practitioner Stream OR/ Master in Nursing/Master of Science in Nursing with successful completion of a post Master's Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate program from a recognized school of graduate studies BCLS required Registered Nurse with Ontario Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario Current member of RNAO Clinical specialty organizational membership Nurse Practitioner's Association of Ontario Minimum 3 years experience as advanced practice nurse in specific clinical specialty preferred Minimum 3 years relevant clinical specialty or related experience as a Registered Nurse Identification of a clinical NP Mentor

Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative practice model with multidisciplinary teams.




Demonstrated ability to use initiative and work autonomously utilizing critical thinking skills, and advanced decision-making, problem recognition and problem solving skills.
Experience in clinical nursing, and multidisciplinary leadership and education.
On call required as needed.
Experience with program development, quality improvement initiatives, and program evaluation.
Effective organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
