Welders are responsible for safely MIG welding pre-assembled structural steel products to meet the quality standards and specifications demanded by our Quality Assurance Program and of our industry regulators Responsibilities Perform various fit-up and tacking operations on a variety of structural assemblies Interpret weld symbols and follow weld procedures Adding stiffeners, brackets, faceplates, etc. using shop orders for location before finish welding
Perform production GMAW operations on a variety of plate, bars, channel, and related materials working off shop orders and/or verbal instructions Setting welding machine to assure uniform bead,
adequate penetration with minimum wrap Utilizing cutting torch as required Performing cleaning operations when required using chipping hammer or grinder to remove burn-through and spatter Utilize overhead crane to lift within the capacity of the crane
Maintaining work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition Perform tasks as required by Supervisor
Be willing to help the team succeed wherever possible Qualifications Must have basic math skills to calculate measurements
CWB certification in GMAW is considered an asset
Prior experience in the steel industry is considered an asset
Prior welding experience required Capable of working safely in a fast-paced workplace
