Work Setting: In-home/Employer’s home

Job Duties and Responsibilities

- Provide supervision and care for children in the employer’s residence in absence of parents.
- Follow the parent’s instructions to oversee children’s daily routines, including meals and rest periods while maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.
- Plan, prepare, and serve meals for children and may undertake additional household tasks.
- Teach children about personal hygiene practices and administer discipline to children in accordance with the parents' specified methods.
- Assist with bathing, dressing, and feeding children.




- Offer age-appropriate educational guidance through organized activities such as games, crafts, reading, and outings.
- Escort children to and from school, extracurricular activities, and appointments, and assist with homework and school-related tasks.
- Shop for groceries and household supplies as required to support daily household operations.
- Keep records of daily activities and any relevant information related to the children’s health and well-being.
- Attend to the emotional well-being of children and support their social development.

Skilled Skills and Requirements

- Secondary School graduation required.
- Experience is an asset.
- Fluent in English and excellent verbal communication skills; high level of confidentiality, integrity, ethics, and professionalism.
- Overtime may be required sometimes; position could be physically demanding.
- Good time management skills, client focus, flexibility, organized, reliable, and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Knowing another language such as Gujarati would be an asset.
