KELOWNA

Job Location: Kelowna General Hospital (KGH), one of Interior Health's tertiary hospitals in Kelowna.

PRACTICE DESCRIPTION

Interior Health is seeking a medical microbiologist to join its regional team in September 2027. The team provides consultation to four microbiology laboratories in Kelowna, Kamloops, Trail, and Cranbrook, as well as to a large regional network of infection control practitioners.

Responsibilities:

- Participate in the oversight of regional laboratory services, including bacteriology, mycology, and molecular testing.
- Contribute to clinical consultation and oversight for the regional Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) program.
- Share in a clinically oriented on‑call service with six microbiologists.
- Support effective collaboration with regional administrative, hospital, infection control, and laboratory staff.





Ideal Candidate:

- Experience in bacteriology, mycology, molecular testing, and IPAC.
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration across clinical and administrative teams.

Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is a leading health care centre with approximately 400 beds and over 84,000 emergency department visits annually. It houses the Interior Heart & Surgical‑Centre and offers a range of operating rooms, maternity ward, neonatal ICU, and specialised wards.

Compensation

Compensation Type: Clinical Service Contract

Estimated Remuneration: Provincial salary grid – 90% of $380,812–$423,125 in year 1, 95% in year 2, and 100% from year 3 onward.

Perks and Incentives

- Relocation Funding: $9,000 (BC), $12,000 (Canadian moves), $15,000 (outside Canada). Subject to maximum amounts and eligible receipts.
- Other benefits and incentives subject to change; specific rates will be confirmed at the time of offer.
