About the Role

The Company is in search of a Head of Carpentry for the 2026 A Recent Holiday Surprise Touring production. The successful candidate will be tasked with leading the Carpentry Department to ensure the construction, maintenance, and operation of all scenic elements, staging, truss systems, and automation components used in the show. This pivotal role involves overseeing the safe assembly and disassembly of the set at each venue, maintaining the structural integrity of all scenic elements, and leading a team of touring and local stage technicians to uphold the technical and creative standards of the production.



The Head of Carpentry will also be responsible for scenic operations and maintenance, leadership and collaboration with the technical team, touring and load-in/out management, and administration and budget management.

Applicants for the Head of Carpentry position at the company should possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in technical theatre, stagecraft, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years' professional experience in stage carpentry or technical direction for live productions, including touring experience. The role requires strong technical knowledge of stage carpentry, automation, and rigging systems, as well as excellent leadership, crew management, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and proactive in troubleshooting, with the ability to work effectively under pressure. Certification in rigging or automation operation is preferred, and the candidate must be able to lift at least 50 lbs, work safely at heights, and be available for domestic travel during the tour period.
