Become a vital part of YWCA Toronto as a Shelter Support Worker, delivering essential services in a secure, feminist context. This full-time role includes on-call shifts and requires strong counseling skills.
You will work from Tuesday to Saturday at our location on Davenport Road, providing support to women facing trauma and homelessness. Your contributions will involve developing workshops and working closely with clients to navigate resources effectively. With a focus on harm reduction, your experience in counseling and group facilitation will be crucial in promoting residents' mental health and empowerment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide crisis counseling and support to shelter residents
• Facilitate workshops using creative and expressive techniques




• Maintain safety by executing risk assessments
• Assist clients in securing priority housing options
• Collaborate with fellow staff to ensure effective service delivery
Requirements:
• Supervised undergraduate degree in social work or related field
• At least 3 years experience in relevant service roles
• Background in trauma and crisis management
• Skills in mediation and communication
• Cultural sensitivity and experience in diverse environments
Foster empowerment and healing among shelter residents at YWCA Toronto while gaining meaningful experience.
