Job Description
The Property Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, appearance, safety, and functionality of a high-traffic recreational and commercial property. This hands-on role performs a wide variety of outdoor maintenance duties throughout all seasons, ensuring that facilities, grounds, and public spaces remain clean, safe, and welcoming for guests, tenants, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Grounds Maintenance
- Operate commercial mowing and landscaping equipment to maintain lawns, green spaces, and surrounding property.
- Perform trimming, edging, weed control, and seasonal landscaping duties.
- Remove litter, debris, and refuse from public areas, parking lots, walkways, and grounds.
Rink Operations
- Operate and maintain ice resurfacing equipment (Zamboni).
- Assist with ice installation, maintenance, and removal activities.
- Monitor rink conditions and ensure a safe, high-quality skating surface.
Property Maintenance
- Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds, fences, walkways, lighting, and outdoor amenities.
- Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance as required.
- Assist with snow removal, salting, and winter property maintenance activities.
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation standards throughout the property.
Event and Public Area Support
- Support event setup and teardown activities.
- Ensure heavily trafficked public areas remain clean, protected, and free of hazards.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and operational issues.
Equipment Operation & Safety
- Safely operate maintenance vehicles, tractors, utility vehicles, power tools, and equipment.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
- Follow all workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Previous experience in property maintenance, groundskeeping, facility maintenance, or a related field preferred.
- Experience operating a Zamboni or willingness to obtain certification.
- Ability to safely operate landscaping and maintenance equipment.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently.
- Physically capable of lifting, carrying, and performing manual labour in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Working Conditions
- Outdoor work in all seasons and weather conditions.
- Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required.
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and equipment operation.
