Job Summary

University Food Services (UNFS) is the primary provider of food and beverage services at the University of Victoria, serving students, staff, faculty, and external clients through retail, residential dining, and its catering division Degrees Catering. UNFS operates a variety of campus venues ranging from small grab-and-go cafes to high volume food court operations.

Under the direction of the Food Service Manager, Coordinator, or designate, the Food Service Supervisor provides leadership to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and service excellence across assigned University of Victoria Food Services locations, venues, outlets and Degrees catering. The role is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and operation of designated units, supporting positive customer experiences while ensuring departmental standards, policies,



and procedures are consistently met.

Job Requirements

Experience

- A minimum 3 years' experience in a high-volume culinary environment with previous experience in a supervisory or team leadership role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specialized Knowledge/Education

- Completion of Grade 12.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s license is an asset.

Skills/Abilities

- Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic mathematical skills and numerical comprehension.
- Ability to lead and direct a team to deliver high levels of customer service while maintaining strict adherence to food safety standards.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of standard industry POS systems and payment methods, including debit, credit, cash, and the ONECard (University of Victoria).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer service orientation.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and quality in all aspects of the role.
