Join YWCA Toronto as a Cook in our emergency shelter program, offering part-time hours focused on preparing nutritious meals for vulnerable populations. This role combines culinary skills with social responsibility.
In a part time capacity, you'll work 28 hours a week from Friday to Monday, creating meals that cater to diverse dietary needs. You'll assist the Food Services Coordinator, ensuring kitchen cleanliness and safety standards. This role is critical for supporting women and gender-diverse individuals who rely on our services in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and serve meals, including snacks and bag lunches
• Plan and prep meals for the upcoming day
• Ensure compliance with health regulations
• Maintain cleanliness in food areas
• Aid in food deliveries and storage
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent training
• Food Handler Certification and nutrition-oriented education
• 1-3 years of relevant cooking experience
• Training in WHMIS and Naloxone is required
• Experience with culturally diverse meals preferred
