Join to apply for the Grinder Operator role at Voith Paper in Hawkesbury, Ontario.

Under general direction of the Production Supervisor, the incumbent will perform a series of operations related to grinding non-metallic materials and preparing rolls for papermaking.

Responsibilities

- Inspect journals for score marks or any damage and report to supervisor any occurrences.
- Clean babbitt post.
- Ensure that the supporting surface is round and concentric with the bearing surface.
- Position and secure cylinder with universal joint and both steady rest.
- Align and level roll.
- Ensure all specifications on the work order match roll and/or blueprint.
- Determine which grinding wheel or belt to use.
- Program crown when applicable.
- Remove nylon binders when applicable.
- Engage work feed.
- Program control to adjust depth of removal, grinding speed and feed rates.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Previous experience not required, but operator experience is an asset.
- Mechanically inclined candidate is an asset.
- Basic computer skills required (e.g., data entry to input measurements into machine program).
- Polvalent, motivated individual with a keen eye for quality and a focus on safety.




- Functional knowledge of imperial measure system.
- Available for day and afternoon rotating shifts.
- Pre-hire medical examination required as part of the hiring process.
- Bilingual in English and French.
