Our client, a growing independent wealth management firm in Calgary, is seeking a Financial Planning Associate to join its advisory support team.
This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys building comprehensive financial plans, collaborating with experienced Wealth Advisors, and delivering an exceptional client experience. The successful candidate will work alongside senior advisors to prepare financial plans, coordinate planning activities, and continue developing their expertise within a highly collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and update comprehensive financial plans for new and existing clients.
- Gather, organize, and analyze client financial information.
- Support advisors in identifying planning opportunities and developing recommendations.
- Assist with retirement, cash flow, investment, insurance, tax, and estate planning recommendations.
- Ensure financial plans remain current as clients' circumstances evolve.
- Collaborate closely with advisors to prepare for client meetings.
- Coordinate planning-related activities before and after client meetings.
- Prepare planning reports, presentations, and supporting materials.
- Manage client communications, including follow-up emails, document requests, and action item summaries.
- Coordinate semi-annual client review meetings and ensure follow-up items are completed.
- Maintain accurate client records and planning documentation.
- Support advisors with ongoing client service activities.
- Work closely with advisors and internal team members to ensure planning recommendations are implemented efficiently.
- Help coordinate planning workflows and contribute to process improvements.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure timely completion of follow-up activities.
- Stay current on financial planning concepts, industry trends, and best practices.
Qualifications
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Financial Planning, or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years of experience in financial planning, wealth management, or advisor support.
- Experience preparing financial plans or supporting financial advisors.
- Progress toward the CFP® designation is considered an asset.
- Mutual fund or securities licensing is considered an asset.
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Understanding of holistic financial planning principles.
- Knowledge of retirement, investment, insurance, tax, and estate planning concepts.
- Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Comfortable using financial planning software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach.
